What an incredible year! It started with fireworks over the harbour in Victoria, and I’ll be ringing in 2018 in the Vinales valley, in Cuba! I have some great posts in the works for the new year, plus you can expect some Cuba-heavy content once we get back!
2017 was full of close-to-home adventures, and some big celebrations:
Kyla and I did TONS of exploring on Vancouver Island and the nearby Gulf Islands. We camped like BAMFs on Mayne Island, I fell in love with Hornby Island, and (best!) we spent four days hiking the Juan de Fuca Trail . Read about our first day, the hardest section of the trail, our bear encounter, and making it to 47 km! Our bodies and our relationship survived the trek! This fall, we spent our 2 year anniversary stormwatching and relaxing in Tofino.
We also travelled to Seattle in January for the Women’s March. I finished my master’s! I found lots to love in Vegas, and spent time in Ottawa in the fall for my sister’s wedding!!
Despite it seeming like the world was imploding at times, there were some really wonderful moments in 2017. Have happy new year, wherever you are! Cheers to 2018!
